The New Orleans Pelicans had a phenomenal performance from Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday on Saturday night to complete the series sweep over the Portland Trail Blazers by the score of 131-123.
How It Happened
The Portland Trail Blazers started things off strong, getting out to a six point lead in the opening minutes of the ballgame. Things continued to go Portland’s way for the much of the first quarter before a late three-pointer from Ian Clark gave the Pelicans a one-point lead.
Things started to turn in favor of New Orleans in the second quarter, getting out to a six-point lead with 9:22 left until halftime. The Blazers kept it competitive throughout the second quarter from that point and kept it to a two-point ballgame at the break.
New Orleans really started to get out in front early in the second half, going up by 12 with 6:25 left in the third. It was all Pelicans from that point thanks to Anthony Davis putting up 19 points and racking up five boards in the third quarter.
Things got interested in the final five minutes after an Al-Farouq Aminu fastbreak layup got things down to one-point. However, the Pelicans were able to salt things away in the final moments by getting things done at the free-throw line.
