ABBEVILLE-When you look at the players that make up Abbeville’s football team, you can’t deny their physicality.
Strong, fast, and athletic are just some of the words used to describe Rod Moy’s Wildcats. After a 7-5 season and a second-round playoff exit last year, Moy knows how close his team is.
“We talked about a drop and a drive,” Moy said at practice last week. “We know that we were very close to beating the #1 team in the state, Iowa’s a really good ballclub and we felt like we were close to being able to advance ourselves.”
With tons of experience and a talented coaching staff, Abbeville could be a force in District 5-3A.
IMPACT PLAYERS
Zaylun Williams DL, 5’9″, 250 lbs, Jr
Williams will look to be a menace up the middle for Tank Lotief’s defense in 2023. Long frame and physical at the point of attack, opposing offenses will have a hard time preventing him from getting to the football.
Edmar Simon DB/RB, 5’9″, 170 lbs, Jr
Simon is a confident player that plays well on both sides of the football. Versatility is an asset, even at the high school level. He could have a strong season being a leader of this group.
Tajh Judge QB, 6’1″, 170 lbs, Sr
Judge comes into his senior season with a season and a half of experience as a starter. He’s very athletic, makes strong decisions, and will make big plays. He accounted for 1,300 yards of total offense in 2022.

Moy enters his third season at Abbeville with a career coaching record of 40-28. He plays a strong, physical style of football and has a very impressive staff under him with names like Tank Lotief, former head coach at multiple area high schools, serving as the defensive coordinator.
