5. Loyalty
The loyalty LeBron James has for the sad city of Cleveland is the sweetest thing in sports. He is such a nice guy. His owner is meddling in front office affairs, his point guard wants all the spotlight and is trying to leave town, he’s balding, it’s cold, and yet LeBron James will refuse to waive his no-trade clause so he can get to greener pastures. LeBron did Cleveland real dirty once upon a time, but I honestly believe he is a changed man and will never leave his city again. That is something you rarely see these days.
4. Jordan Spieth
Kudos to the soon-to-be 24 year old for winning The Open Championship on the old links by the Irish Sea. Spieth getting the 3rd Major Championship of his career at such a young age gives golf honks everything they have been hoping for; a young American golfer who they can put in their goofy outfits and use to sell the sport to kids who don’t know any better. With Jordan Spieth, golf has life A.T. (After Tiger).
3. Ole Miss Schadenfreude
For a school that has barely won throughout it’s history, it would seem cruel to enjoy the mess Ole Miss is currently in. But as a school with a history of cheating and wearing their collars popped in a non-ironic way, one can only revel in delight as Ole Miss Football scrambles through the wreckage. It is especially hilarious when you hear their hopeless fans suggest that Les Miles may come to town to fix it all. “Hotty Toddy, gosh almighty who the hell are we!?”…you are the SEC’s biggest Melvins,; that’s who you are.
2. Camp Days
NFL Training Camps provide some of the most fun fans and media can have. It is a chance to get autographs and see your heroes up close before they go on a long journey towards a Super Bowl It is a chance for the media to use fun phrases like “position battle” and get up close with coaches and players before they get completely annoyed. But the best part of the start of NFL Training Camps is just knowing that football is finally almost back!
1. Old Glory
Thanks again to John Cena for defeating Rusev and securing the flag of the United States of America high atop the podium where it belongs. As those colors waved through the sky after Cena’s victory at Battleground, all I could think about was how great it is to live in a country where that NEVER GIVES UP!
