5. Double Duty
Carley Hoover pitched twice on Sunday for LSU Softball because she needed to. LSU could not afford to mess around and not get into the championship game of their own Regional. So Hoover stepped in and after a season with some annoying injuries, she annoyed batters all day long….literally.
FINAL: Tigers win 6-1 over UL-Lafayette to force a Game 7 of the Baton Rouge Regional, which will be played Monday at 1 p.m. CT. pic.twitter.com/fx9ScmuZiI

4. British Wrestling
Pro Wrestling has and always will be popular with the youth of America, but it is very hip to “get back into wrestling” if you are someone between the ages of 20 and 50. Trendy independent promotions are thriving and pro wrestlers who are not even in WWE are making money and getting love from the media. No scene is thriving as well as British Pro Wrestling. WWE recognized this and they created a UK Championship and if you saw Saturday’s defense of that title by Tyler Bate against the despicable Pete Dunne, you know what I am talking about. This sure was some athletic event we all witnessed.
3. Bud Crawford
Terence “Bud” Crawford is the Junior Welterweight Champion of the World in the sport of Boxing. He is a 140 pound wizard in the ring. His technical prowess is awe inspiring to those who love the Sweet Science. Nobody knows his name because he is a soft spoken guy from Omaha and stays out of trouble. However, this weekend he proved that he is possibly the best pound-for-pound fighter on Earth with a TKO of Felix Diaz. Crawford has not had a super-fight yet so people are hesitant to call him “best in the world” but if there is any justice in Boxing left, he will get a big time fight against someone like Manny Pacquaio and people will know his name. Bud deserves it. He is a nice guy. Tries hard.
2. Mike Fiers
He played well enough to win, finally, and even though he didn’t get the win he did something to somewhat silence his many critics who follow the Astros this season. The Astros still shouldn’t start Mike Fiers, but dammit he’s still a decent enough Major League pitcher!
1. Team Efforts
The Penguins and Predators both have had significant players go down for the season and yet both own 3-2 leads in their respective Conference Finals series. Ryan Johansen going down for Smashville was pretty devastating for the Preds; he was their leading scorer in these playoffs and the main focus of the Anaheim Ducks defense. The Pittsburgh Penguins have been without all world defenseman Kris Letang all playoff long and they have lost a litany of other players including Justin Schultz, Patric Hornqvist, and Tom Kuhnhackl. The point is, these teams lost all stars and contributors and they didn’t lose a step.
