If the Cubs win the World Series we are all surely doomed. There is one man who has made it his mission to save us. Can you dig it? Sucka!
5. D.J. Chark
The Alexandria native got his first touchdown of the season and is showing that he is good for one splash play a game with a catch of over 30 yards in 3 of his last 4 games. Saturday it looked like you could even call him Danny Etling’s favorite target. Of all the LSU offensive weapons to emerge in Fournette’s absence, Chark might be the most beneficial for the Tigers.
4. Brandin Cooks
With his second 80-plus yard touchdown catch, the Saints’ wide receiver broke some obscure NFL record pertaining to long touchdowns in the first 5 weeks of an even year during a crescent moon or something like that. Whatever the case, Cooks is having that breakout sort of year you Saints fans were hoping for. He also did not draw his bow and arrow on his touchdown celebration opting to save his team from a 15 yard penalty. It sucks he would be flagged, but smart to put the arrow away until you and the NFLPA can sling ’em at the league in the off season.
3. Pass Interference
The NFL has many issues but nothing turns a viewer off quicker than P.I. The rule is completely judgmental and affects the outcomes of games way too often. This week it helped the Saints blow a 3 touchdown lead versus Carolina and it screwed Atlanta out of a big win on the road in Seattle. Pass interference is great when it goes in your favor and the worst when it gets you. It’s the number one rule that leads you to believe the league is fixed and it’s so easy to fix by just copying the 15 yard penalty in college version.
2. Odell Beckham Jr.
Finally breaks out and defeats Baltimore in the process. How badly does he want to overtake T.O. as the biggest showboating diva of all time? Not that there is anything wrong with that, T.O. belongs in the Hall of Fame, but remember when you saw him do his thing and thought about the kids who would one day play in the league and emulate Owens? Well here you are.
1. Clayton Kershaw
Clayton Kershaw is a man on a mission to save Earth. He is Bruce Willis in Armageddon or Will Smith in Independence Day or Will Smith in Men in Black or Will Smith in I Am Legend or Will Smith in I, Robot or Will Smith in Hancock. He is the keeper of the curse this year and he is saving our lives. Pay homage to the man!
