In round one, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson Dechambeau and others took a swing at putting low numbers on the board at Augusta National.
In round two on Friday, Augusta National swung back.
The winds picked up, the greens firmed up, and the scores went up significantly as players battled the conditions. Dechambeau entered the day -7, but could not make up any ground to extend his lead. He made one birdie and one bogey on the front nine. His back nine was more volatile, as he picked up two shots but dropped three. Overall, he shot a 73 and ended the day at -6.
Scheffler, who entered the day at -6, struggled to make up ground as well. He made several birdies and bogeys throughout the day, but again could not post an overall low round. He finished with a 72 and tied for the lead at -6.
Max Homa finished up his first round in the early morning and shot a 67. Then, he used that momentum to continue into red figures, battling the elements to post a 71 in round two. That also tied him for the lead at -6.
Another massive story on this day was Tiger Woods, who battled through his injuries to shoot an even par 72 in round two. That came after he finished his first round early this morning at +1. His +1 score put him comfortably inside the cut line, meaning he now holds the record for the most consecutive cuts made at The Masters.
