BATON ROUGE — The LSU Tigers wrapped up spring practice on Saturday with the annual National L Club Spring Game — which Team White won over Team Purple 23-14. Below are the stars from Saturday’s scrimmage inside Tiger Stadium.
STARS OF THE SPRING GAME
OFFENSE
Jontre Kirklin
The 6-foot, 184-pound wide receiver didn’t get much rest on Saturday as he lined up for both squads in the game and led all players in receptions (17), receiving yards (209) and receiving touchdowns (2).
Max Johnson
After struggling starting the game for Team White (4-of-10 for 60 yards), the sophomore shined for Team Purple in the third quarter completing 7-of-7 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns.
Myles Brennan
The senior quarterback completed 11-of-15 passes for 106 yards and one touchdown for Team White. Brennan’s 39-yard touchdown pass to Boutte was done on a fake spike and may have been the play of the game.
Kayshon Boutte
The former Westgate High star and the Tigers’ No. 1 wide receiver hauled in 11 receptions for 162 yards and one touchdown lining up for Team White on Saturday.
Ty Davis-Price
The running back group had been held back during spring due to injuries, Davis-Price though seemed in mid-season form as he led all rushers with 76 yards on 15 carries.
DEFENSE
Dwight McGlothern
With starter Eli Ricks sidelined due to injury, the sophomore cornerback stepped up in his place recording seven tackles, one interception and a team-high four pass breakups including one on a fourth-and-three pass near the goal line.
Jared Small
The undersized redshirt senior linebacker led all defensive players with 14 tackles, including a team-high nine solos, and pulled down an interception for Team Purple.
BJ Ojulari
The pass rushing linebacker made only three tackles in the game but Ojulari sacked the quarterbacks twice and added another hurry to his stat sheet.
Jaquelin Roy
The 6-foot-4, 302-pound Roy led either defense with three sacks, three tackles for a loss and had four tackles on the day for Team White.
Damone Clark
The 6-foot-3, 245-pound senior was strong and steady for Team Purple as he had the second-most tackles on the day with 12.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Cade York
Despite kicking in the wind, York made a 50-yard field goal and another one from 47 yards for Team White. York also had three kickoffs for 195 yards.
