The LSU Tigers (4-1, 1-0 SEC) will play in one of their biggest games of the season on Saturday night when they welcome Ole Miss to Death Valley for a top 10 SEC matchup
The Rebels come into this matchup looking to continue their offensive success and keep themselves in the conversation for the College Football Playoff while the Tigers will be looking to avenge last year’s 55-49 defeat in Oxford.
Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on ABC and the game can be heard on ESPN 103.7 Lafayette 104.1 Lake Charles with pregame beginning at 4:30 p.m.
100 YEARS OF TIGER STADIUM
Saturday’s game will be the official celebration of the 100th season inside Tiger Stadium. Known as the Cathedral of College Football, Tiger Stadium will be decorated with a special paint job in the endzones, and fans will help light up the stadium with wristbands from Our Lady of the Lake Health that will be synced with the new LED lights in the stadium to create an epic light show at various points of the game.
Also, alumni from previous teams of the last 80 seasons will be honored throughout the game as well as Warren Rabb and Matt Flynn, two of the four national championship quarterbacks, being named guest captains.
STOP THE REBELS’ PASSING GAME
Ole Miss comes into this game with the best wide reliever in the country, Lafayette’s own Tre’ Harris. Jaxson Dart also has weapons such as Antwane Wells Jr and tight end Caden Prieskorn leading the Rebels’ passing attack. For LSU, the secondary will need to find a way to step up and slow down the vertical passing game if they want to pick up a critical win and put them back in the CFP conversation.
MAJOR SEC IMPLICATIONS
This matchup between a pair of Top 10 teams will go a long way into placing the victor squarely into not only the CFP conversation but the SEC championship picture as well. Texas, Alabama, and Georgia are still near the top of the conference, but either LSU or Ole Miss could certainly have a hand in the mix with a key win on Saturday night.
