Thomas Tillery has an extensive background with amateur baseball in south Louisiana and the southern part of this country.
A native of Lake Charles, Tillery pitched on a junior college national championship team at LSU-Eunice before finishing at Southern Arkansas and more recently kick-starting his coaching career at Meridian (MS) Community College.
He arrived at Carencro more than two years ago, serving as an assistant on both the football and baseball outfits for the Golden Bears. Tillery was tabbed this summer as the replacement for Brannon Cobb, giving the up-and-coming coach a new challenge – head coach of Carencro Baseball.
In the interview below, Tillery shared with 103.7 The Game host Ben Love the first steps he’s taking to advance the program, some of the young players set to star on the diamond in 2017 and early results from players beginning to throw this fall.
Tillery also outlined a local fundraising effort, coming to campus this Saturday, Oct. 29, and gave a rundown of the injury situation of starting quarterback Carl Randall leading up to last Friday night’s home tilt versus Northside High.
