After a strong weekend at the plate, LSU catcher/designated hitter Hayden Travinski was named SEC Co-Player of the Week for the opening week of the season.
Travinski shared the honor with Slate Alford of the Georgia Bulldogs, the league office announced.
Travinksi hit .636 at the plate this weekend with one homer, four runs batted in and eight runs scored while adding a pair of walks and two hit-by pitches. In total, the Bossier City native recorded a .733 on-base percentage.
Travinksi’s solo homer came as the insurance in the season-opening 11-8 win over VMI while also going 3-5 on Sunday against the Keydets.
LSU closes out opening weekend Monday afternoon against Central Arkansas.
