Welcome everyone to another edition of #TriplePlay!
Turn One: Leaving Runs on the Basepaths
The Cajuns bats were almost ice cold when it came to getting runs on the board in this weekend’s series against Appalachian State. For example, let’s look at Sunday afternoon’s game. The Cajuns had the bases loaded with only one out after Kennon Fontenot was walked in the bottom of the seventh. Now how many runs did the Cajuns get off of this? NONE. The Cajuns left way too many runners on base over the weekend and it cost them one game too many this close to a big weekend series.
Turn Two: Avoiding Distractions
The Ragin Cajuns had a lot going on this weekend. From Ron Guidry weekend to the end of finals, there were a lot of distractions for the Cajuns to try and avoid. The Cajuns did a pretty admiral job avoiding these landmines and coming away with two out of three from one of the worst teams in the conference. Any fan would have wanted to see a sweep heading into a series against South Alabama, but winning the series is good for the Cajuns in keeping a good spot in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
Turn Three: Super Important Series Next Weekend
The Ragin Cajuns could be first in the Sun Belt after next weekend if everything goes according to plan. The Cajuns will be headed on the road to Stanky Field to take on South Alabama who lost two of three against Georgia Southern over the weekend, putting the Cajuns three games back with two weeks left in the regular season. If the Cajuns sweep the series, they are in the driver’s seat. But the Cajuns need to get everything ready to go for that game. I’d say if at all possible, you get Evan Guillory moved up to a Saturday start for this series. Wyatt Marks has been getting better lately, but you can’t take the risk this late in the season in a crucial series.
