The University of Louisiana football team keeps adding to its top-ranked 2020 recruiting class.
The Ragin’ Cajuns received their 17th verbal commitment for the 2020 class on Thursday morning when three-star inside linebacker Ahmad Johnson from Pelahatchie, Mississippi made his commitment public on Twitter.
The Pelahatchie Attendance Center star wrote in a Twitter post, “First, I would like to thank God for all He has done to put me in this position. I would like to thank my friends and all of the coaches that have recruited me. I’m extremely grateful to my family for all the help and support in making this difficult decision. Today I am so excited to announce that I will be furthering my academic and athletic career at the University fo Louisiana. I cannot wait to join the #cULture and be a part of something special… GEAUX Cajuns.”
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Johnson chose UL, and head coach Billy Napier, over in-state schools such as Southern Miss and Austin Peay (coached by former UL coach Mark Hudspeth), as well as Indiana out of the Big 10 and Tennessee out of the Southeastern Conference.
247Sports has Johnson ranked as a three-star prospect, the 68th best inside linebacker in the country and the 44th best prospect out of Mississippi. With Johnson committed, UL now has the 67th-ranked class in the nation and the No. 1 in the Sun Belt Conference by 247Sports.
