Raina O’Neal had a sensational weekend series and on Tuesday was honored for that play.
The University of Louisiana junior center fielder has been named the Community Coffee Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week.
O’Neal led the Ragin’ Cajuns at the plate during the week-long stretch of Top 10 road matchups against University of Texas and University of Florida. O’Neal posted a .412 batting average with seven hits, three RBI and three stolen bases.
O’Neal was at her best in Sunday’s finale in Gainesville as she went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI — season-high totals in both categories.
The honor is the second career SBC weekly award for O’Neal, who first received the award on Feb. 12, 2019 after hitting .632 with nine RBI during her debut weekend as a Ragin’ Cajun.
It is also the second weekly award for a Ragin’ Cajun in the 2020 season, as O’Neal joins former Teurlings Catholic star Summer Ellison who was named the pitcher of the week back on Feb. 18.
