The LSU Tigers added another top player from the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Brian Kelly and his staff added University of Houston safety AJ Haulcy to the roster for the 2025 season. Haulcy is an All-Big 12 first-team honoree who is coming off two very productive seasons for the Cougars, in which he compiled 171 tackles and 10 pass deflections.
The 6-foot, 215-pound senior amassed 74 tackles, five interceptions, and eight passes defended, which earned him All-Big 12 honors in 2024. Haulcy was also the Big 12’s Defensive Newcomer of the Year after recording 98 tackles in 2023.
On3’s Industry Rankings had the Houston native as the No. 31 overall prospect and No. 2 safety in the spring transfer portal window. Haulcy chose LSU over the Miami Hurricanes.
Haulcy was a three-star prospect out of high school and began his collegiate career at New Mexico, where he started nine games as a freshman.
Haulcy is the 18th player the LSU has brought in during this transfer cycle, and is the second safety in the class. He joins former NC State defensive back Tamarcus Cooley in the class. Haulcy is also the second transfer LSU landed in the spring portal window, joining University of South Florida defensive tackle Bernard Gooden.
247Sports has listed LSU with the No. 1 transfer class in the country.
