USA Women’s Soccer wins Women’s World Cup Final over Japan

USA Women’s Soccer took the lead early and never let up against Japan to come away with a 5-2 win in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final.

Carli Lloyd got the US on the board in quick fashion scoring in the third minute. Lloyd quickly put up another goal in the fifth minute to give US an early 2-0 lead.

Lauren Holiday got another score for the US in the 14th minute to really pull away with a 3-0 lead.

Carli Lloyd completed the hat trick in the first half in the 16th minute with a kick from midfield to give US a 4-0 lead.

But Japan was able to stop the shutout streak in the 26th minute by Yuki Ogimi to cut away at the lead.

Japan cut the lead in half in the 52nd minute with an own goal by Julie Johnson, but Tobin Heath put the dagger in the World Cup Final with Tobin Heath scoring in the 54th minute.

This is the third World Cup victory for the US Women’s World Cup team and the first since 1999.
