LSU has their new defensive coordinator.
The school announced on Tuesday they have hired Minnesota Vikings defensive backs coach Daronte Jones as their defensive coordinator.
The Athletic reported on Monday the Tigers were expected to hire Jones as defensive coordinator.
Jones will replace former defensive coordinator Bo Pelini, who parted ways with the program after one year.
Jones has coaching experience in the NFL with stops at Minnesota, Cincinnati and Miami.
LSU head coach Ed Orgeron met with Jones on Sunday and Monday, according to ESPN.
The last time Jones coached in the college ranks was 2015. Jones coached the defensive backs at Wisconsin under former coordinator Dave Aranda.
Jones was also the defensive coordinator at two Louisiana high schools, Jeanerette in 2004 and Franklin in 2003.
