Heading into Wednesday’s matchup between the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (5-7) and the LSU Tigers (9-5), the Cajuns were unable to put together a three-run inning. They were able to change all of that in the bottom of the eighth.
Gavin Bourgeois led things off in the eighth with a single down the right field line in the eighth. Daniel Lahare followed up with a bunt single to get a run into scoring position. After a sac bunt from Kennon Fontenot, Hunter Kasuls followed up with a two-run bunt single to make it 2-1.
Hayden Cantrelle pushed the Cajuns out to a 3-1 lead later in the inning with an RBI single out to center field. However, LSU responded with two outs by having Austin Bain pinch hit for Nick Webre. Bain powered one out to right center field for a two-run double to knot things up at three runs.
Then Jonathan Windham came to the plate in the bottom of the tenth. He took the first pitch he saw out to center field, which missed the glove of Zach Watson to give the Cajuns a 4-3 win.
Logan Stoelke got his first win of the season, allowing two runs off of one hit, walked one, and struck out two in two innings of work. Bain was credited with the loss, dropping to 1-1 on the season, allowing three runs off of four hits in two innings of work.
The Cajuns will stay at home this weekend for a three game set against South Alabama (7-6) with first pitch on Friday set for 6 pm while the Tigers will take on Hawaii (7-4) in the Box with game one set for 6:30 pm.
