The former STM star has a new home.
Walker Howard, one of the top QB recruits in the Class of 2022, announced last week that he was entering the transfer portal. This morning, he announced his commitment to Ole Miss via Twitter.
The former STM cougar didn’t see much playing time while in Baton Rouge, playing sparingly against Southern in Week 2 and then playing most of the fourth quarter of the Citrus Bowl earlier this month. Howard was battling with gunslinger Garrett Nussmeier for the backup spot with Jayden Daniels announcing his return to Death Valley for his senior season.
Howard was rated as the top dual-threat quarterback in the country coming into LSU after throwing for 2,394 yards and 25 touchdowns his senior year. His junior season was his most impressive, as he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Louisiana. He threw for 3,430 yards and 42 touchdowns as a junior, leading the Cougars to a state title that season.
His father, Jamie, played for the Tigers from 1992-1995, finishing in the Top 10 in school history for passing yards (6,158), passing TDs (34), and total offense (6,010).
