The final week of the 2019 high school football regular season in the Acadiana area did not end in dramatics.
A majority of the games came in blowout fashion, and some teams closed out the year on a high while others saw their season end on a down note.
The Carencro Golden Bears kicked off the week a little early. They faced Westgate on Thursday and the early start didn’t slow down Carencro. They finished their regular season with an overall record of 8-2 with a 35-17 win over Westgate.
St. Thomas More dominated North Vermilion on the Cougar’s Senior Night. STM earned a 62-14 win in their final game of the regular season. Wide receiver Jack Bech set the single season record for most receiving yards in the win over the Patriots. The Cougars scored in a variety of ways: through the air, a blocked punt scoop and score and a kickoff return for a touchdown. STM finished with an 8-2 regular season record.
In their final regular season game of their first official year, the Southside Sharks finished strong with a 49-35 win over New Iberia. The Sharks ended their first regular season 6-4, going 3-4 after a 3-0 start to the year.
Lafayette High could not end their regular season on a high note as they lost 51-20 to the Acadiana Wreckin’ Rams. The Mighty Lions ended their season on a five-game losing streak after their road loss to Acadiana. They started their season strong with three straight wins, but Lafayette High finishes with a 4-6 overall record.
The final Vermilion Parish Game of the Week saw one of the few close games in the area. The Erath Bobcats traveled to Abbeville and got the 24-22 win over the Wildcats.

Vermilion Catholic shut out Central Catholic for a 29-0 win.
Kaplan defeated Lake Arthur 47-40.
Barbe spoiled Comeaux High’s final home game of the year with a 41-20 win.
Lafayette Christian Academy beat Welsh 55-3.
Rayne went on the road to Washington-Marion and came away with a 40-18 win.
