David Gary has been making a name for himself in the game of golf for more than four decades.
The Abbeville native learned the game from his father and began playing at the age of seven. Gary would go on to play golf at Vermilion Catholic High School team and had an opportunity to play collegiality at McNeese State. Gary though chose to stay closer to home and not play college golf as he pursued his degree in business from the University of Louisiana (then known as USL).
It was during this time that he made the decision to go to golf school and become a PGA member. His career as a golf pro began in Louisiana at private clubs in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and then the Northshore before returning to Acadiana. Gary returned home to serve as the golf pro at newly-constructed The Wetlands course in Lafayette — a position he has held for the past 14 years.
Gary will now bring that experience and vast knowledge to the 103.7 The Game airwaves every single week as the co-host of “Chip Shots.” The show will air on a new day, Wednesday, from 9 to 10 a.m. right here on Acadiana’s Sports Station — 103.7 The Game.
