As we draw even closer to National Signing Day, there are still a number of holes left to be filled for numerous programs. It’s about to get wild and crazy, especially for the LSU Tigers.
Here are the positions that LSU absolutely needs to take care of in the next two and a half weeks.
Recruiting Need #1: Linebacker
This position has to be the biggest need heading into national signing day. With Duke Riley and Kendall Beckwith departing from LSU, this needs to be a point of emphasis going forward. Yes they still have guys like Donnie Alexander, but the depth that was in place at the start of this season isn’t there anymore. Currently there are no commits at that position so if they want to keep improving defensively with the mad scientist Dave Aranda at the helm.
Recruiting Need #2: Running Back
You have Derrius Guice for one more year so the necessity for another good to great running back waiting in the wings is huge. You’ve got Travis Etienne out of Jennings being one such back that has caught the Tigers attention. However, some recent news may have thrown a major wrench into their plans. The Clemson Tigers offered to the Jennings product and depending how the next 19 days go, LSU might be missing out on a very good Louisiana product. That would be a major hit, especially when it comes to head coach Ed Orgeron’s philosophy of finding talent within the Pelican State.
Recruiting Need #3: Offensive Lineman
Much like the other positions in this article, this is a situation where you want to improve upon what you already have. The Tigers do have some good offensive linemen in this class like Austin Deculus, who is already on campus as an early enrollee. However, there is a need for some depth if players go down due to injury. When you look up and down at the needs the first two needs mentioned above are way higher than this one, but it still hold some weight because the battle between the trenches will be crucial.
