Sophomore right-hander Thatcher Hurd and sophomore third-baseman Tommy White were named National Players of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.
Hurd has posted two wins in the last week with two starts against Butler and Samford. The Manhattan Beach, CA product posted 11 scoreless innings in both contests with 18 strikeouts. He only allowed four hits and opponents hit .111 against him.
Hurd had six shutout innings against Butler last Monday, coming just one strikeout shy of his career-high of 12. He then had five scoreless innings on Sunday against Samford with seven strikeouts.
White had a .438 batting average over the last week with three doubles, three home runs, and 14 RBIs. He also posted a .550 on-base percentage.
White had a homer and double against Lamar before hitting two doubles, two home runs, and nine RBIs in the three-game sweep of Samford. He also launched LSU’s first grand slam on Sunday.
White’s season numbers are up to .395 with seven doubles, five home runs, and 23 RBIs in 13 games.
