The LSU Tigers appear to be headed to Orlando for bowl season.

With Saturday’s 38-23 defeat at Texas A&M, LSU’s chances of making the College Football Playoff evaporated. The loss also has dropped the SEC West Division champions out of the running for a New Year’s Six Bowl Game — AllState Sugar Bowl, Capital One Orange Bowl and Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.

So which one of the other bowls is Brian Kelly’s 9-3 team bound for? It appears the unanimous favorite is the location to be where LSU will kick off the 2023 season — Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

In their most recent projections, CBS Sports, Sports Illustrated, Athlon Sports, Action Network, ESPN, Saturday Down South, 247 Sports and The Sporting News all predict that LSU will play in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando on Monday, January 2nd against Purdue.

LSU has played in the Citrus Bowl twice before in 2016 and 2017. LSU defeated Louisville 29-9 in the 2016 game and lost 21-17 to Notre Dame in 2017.

LSU also played in the bowl game under its old name — the Tangerine Bowl. LSU defeated Wake Forest 34-10 in the 1979 bowl game.

The bowl berths will be officially announced on Sunday, December 4th.

LSU (9-3, 6-2 SEC) will take on Georgia (12-0, 8-0 SEC) in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. and it can be heard on THE GAME 103.7 Lafayette and 104.1 Lake Charles.
