Camryn Reed, a 17-year-old resident of Youngsville has been racing go-karts since she was 9. She now competes professionally with the world’s best. Camryn says it was intimidating at first. She had to endure jabs & snide comments because she’s a girl competing with males. Camryn says she learned to ignore the “Don’t let a girl beat you” type comments and let her driving do the talking. She told KATC, “They know I have the speed to beat them and they take it personally.”
Her family has been highly supportive. Camryn says she watches videos of her competition, and studies course layout to prepare for competition. She will represent Team USA in Valencia, Spain September 15th – 17th.
