According to New Orleans Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry, rookie Zion Williamson was able to go through a full practice for the first time since surgery.

“He went through an actual practice,” Gentry said. “That’s about it. He’s still standing and still shooting free throws so everything is fine.”

Williamson, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, has yet to make his on-court debut for the Pelicans. He underwent surgery after suffering a torn meniscus during the NBA preseason.

Gentry said there is no date for Williamson’s return.

“We just have to take it a day at a time,” Gentry said. “I know that’s typical but we really do have to take it a day at a time and see what kind of progress he makes.”

New Orleans is scheduled to play the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings in their next two games and Gentry said Williamson will not play in the upcoming road trip.

“That won’t happen. I’m pretty sure of that,” Gentry said.

The Pelicans are currently 14th in the Western Conference with an 11-23 overall record.
