Welcome everyone to another edition of #3OT!
1st OT: Getting Off the Schneid
The Cajuns heading into the Thursday night matchup against Georgia Southern, they were 0-8 on the road. This was a game that they had to win to try and begin to get back on the right track before this 2015-16 season went off the rails. Finally winning on the road after Saturday’s collapse against Arkansas State was a big step in the right direction. Now they need to keep the momentum rolling.
2nd OT: Shawn Long En Fuego
Senior forward Shawn Long was all over the place Thursday night. From dominating from the field on offense, to being a rebound machine on defense, He looked like a man obsessed with getting the proverbial monkey off the team’s back. Long went 10-for-13 from the field and nailed his sole three-ball of the night to end up with 23 points and 17 boards, 11 of which were defensive. Long has shown that he can carry the team in the past, this was yet another example of what he can really do.
3rd OT: Must Win Saturday?
Looking ahead to Saturday afternoon’s matchup between Georgia State and the Ragin Cajuns, this is almost a must win for the Cajuns. A couple of weeks ago as the Cajuns were beginning this four-game road trip, I went on record that the Cajuns need to win at least two games to still have a chance of making it to the Sun Belt Conference tournament. But the Panthers, even without RJ Hunter, are performing extremely well this season currently 11-3 and having only one loss in Sun Belt play to UT Arlington. It’s going to be a tough afternoon for the Cajuns, but if they want to continue moving toward the conference tournament, this game needs to be treated as a must win.
