Welcome everyone to the latest edition of #3OT where I break down what went right and what went wrong for the LSU Tigers! Today, I look at LSU’s loss to Alabama.
1st OT: Working Hard In the Paint
If there was one aspect of LSU’s game that worked well, it has to be their performance inside the paint. Having more than half of your points in the pain was a big reason as to why they were able to hold a lead into the final minutes. It also made their poor shooting from beyond not hurt them as much as it has in other games over the course of the last few games.
2nd OT: Turnovers Big Issue
LSU losing games has become second nature for this team, but having 18 turnovers on Saturday is a big issue. During Wednesday’s loss, they also had a high amount of turnovers and the Aggies were able to turn that into points. The worst of it all was that the Tigers allowed 25 points off of those turnovers. The defensive effort throughout was good, but when it came to stopping them off a turnover needs to be fixed as soon as possible.
3rd OT: Bad News
When it comes to the LSU Tigers, when there’s any kind of news about the basketball team, it has to be bad news. The news after Saturday’s loss may send this season into a downward spiral is that Antonio Blakeney has suffered an ankle injury. The status of his injury is still to be determined, but if it turns out to be serious, a season many fans were expecting more out of may become a trainwreck of a season.
