Welcome everyone to another edition of #3OT!
1st OT: Blakeney’s Big Game
Freshman Antonio Blakeney, who has had solid games, decided to break out and show how much potential he has on Saturday night against Mississippi State. Blakeney had a career high 31 points and went 4-for-8 from the arc. With Ben Simmons having a subpar game by his standards, it was refreshing to see Blakeney have another prime example of why he’s another player to watch.
2nd OT: Hot Hand Helps Tigers Overcome Early Struggles
At one point early on in the contest, the Bulldogs were up 20-8 over the Tigers. It was a combined effort from Blakeney and Keith Hornsby, who went for a combined 9-for-18 from the field that got them out of a deep hole late in the first half. With how some recent games have gone with a big lead slipping away from LSU, it was refreshing to see it from the other side of the coin. It also showed the depth this team has.
3rd OT: Big Opportunities Next Week
The LSU Tigers have one hell of a week coming up. It starts off on Wednesday when they hit the road to take on the 25th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks before getting back home for a Saturday afternoon matchup against eighth-ranked Texas A&M. Both of these matchups are chances to get a “signature win”. With how LSU hoops has performed below expectations throughout the season, winning one or both of these games could do a lot for their postseason chances. On the flip side, two losses could be detrimental to the Tigers chances.
