Welcome everyone to another edition of #3OT!
1st OT: Leads Keep On Slipping
For the second time in as many games, the LSU Tigers had a double digit lead. The difference in this one is that this lead slipped away from LSU and they weren’t able to come away with the win. Look at the game against Georgia; they really should have lost that game because they let an 11 point lead evaporate in a matter of two minutes. Head coach Johnny Jones needs to fix that problem as soon as possible.
2nd OT: Simmons Plays Himself Out of Wooden Award Running
Heading into the 2015-16 season, the hype for Ben Simmons was at a fever pitch. And for the most part, it was justified. But on Saturday afternoon, he played himself out of the running for the Wooden award. The freshman only had 14 points, 10 of which were in the first half in a loss where Quarterman showed a lot more to the NBA scouts. But the big story coming out of this is Buddy Hield putting himself in the front of the line for the recipient of the Wooden award with a stellar game.
3rd OT: Stay Classy, LSU Fans
Sometimes LSU’s fans are a little too into the game. And this was one of those games. Now, the hype of these fans is merited since it’s not often that you have a number one team in the nation in your stadium. But yelling expletives at Hield while he’s at the free throw line is bad form, especially on a national stage. But what makes me as a member of the media frustrated with what LSU fans did on Saturday afternoon was throwing their drinks onto the court, and some of them landing on media members and their laptops. Moments like this just make the fans look bad, and in turn the university.
