Welcome everyone to another edition of #3OT!
1st OT: Team Effort
The LSU Tigers basketball team could’ve be between a rock and a hard place early on with Ben Simmons, Craig Victor, and Tim Quarterman all on the bench late in the first half with two fouls. But the bench came through in a big way to keep the deficit to three points heading into the locker room. If you look at Saturday’s loss against Florida and Wednesday’s win over Ole Miss side-by-side, you will see that LSU has learned that they can hold their own without players like Simmons on the court.
2nd OT: Blakeney Has Woken Up
One of the other big three freshman came off the bench and had one of his best performances of the season in Antonio Blakeney. LSU Assistant Coach Charlie Leonard said that “Blakeney is close to breaking out” on Bumper to Bumper Sports with Ben Love before tipoff. And he wasn’t far off with 15 points off the bench and going 7-for-7 from the charity stripe. He was one of the reasons why LSU came away with the W.
3rd OT: Moody Swings
Ole Miss guard Stefan Moody is a guy to watch out for in the pros. I haven’t kept up with Ole Miss hoops, but seeing what this guy did tonight up against Ben Simmons, who towered over 5’10” frame of the senior, racking up 33 of the Rebels 81 points. You’ve got to give credit to a guy who had leg surgery over the summer and missed three months. But give LSU credit overcoming Stefan Moody dominating the game for the Rebels.
