Welcome everyone to another edition of #3OT!
1st OT: What Was That?
The LSU Tigers showed a whole lot of nothing on Saturday afternoon, putting up the least amount of points in an SEC Tournament since 1949. Keep in mind that back in 1949, there was no three-point line in college ball. This was exactly the opposite of what LSU was just 24 hours ago. The Tigers had a golden opportunity to secure a spot in the dance, just did not show up and proved why they do not deserve to be a part of the NCAA Tournament.
2nd OT: Wasted Talent
Ben Simmons will be a number one pick in the NBA Draft and will have a $100 million dollar endorsement deal waiting for him. But he won’t have a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament, which is a damn shame. But with as poor of a performance the Tigers had on Saturday afternoon, they don’t deserve to be in it and possibly won’t make it to the NIT.
3rd OT: What’s Johnny Jones’ Future?
There are two sides to this: “Should he be fired?” and “Will he be fired?” Let’s look at the first question. He should be fired because of a lot of things. For starters, look at the inconsistency of play all season long and how Jones seems like an eternal optimist despite his team shooting 20 percent from the field. That answer to the first question is an emphatic YES. But will he be fired? Odds are probably not. And the reason why is simple. He’s a guy that the higher ups at LSU basketball prefer to have around. It would seem completely stupid to keep a coach like Jones on board, but when the guys at the top like him, it might not matter how bad of an X’s and O’s coach he is.
