Welcome everyone to another edition of #4Downs!
1st Down: Deja Vu
In last year’s matchup between the Cajuns and the Mountaineers, the Mountaineers dominated the Cajuns. The Cajuns won the turnover battle, but were only able to get six points off of two turnovers. And this year was much of the same. The only difference was that the Cajuns got ZERO points off of two turnovers. Both drives after forcing a turnover only lasted six and seven plays respectively. If the Cajuns could have gotten some points on the board, the game would have been a lot more interesting.
2nd Down: Haack Gets Sacked (A lot)
One of the big stats coming out of Saturday’s matchup is six sacks. And all six of those were on Brooks Haack. This offensive line has had issues all season and this game exposed that flaw in the Cajuns offense in a big way. Without Quave, this O-Line looks like hot garbage.
3rd Down: Possible Look Into Future?
On the Cajuns final drive, the fans got a possible glimpse into the future with true freshman Jordan Davis taking over at QB. Davis went 7-7 for 70 yards and got the sole score for the Cajuns with a 20-yard run. Yes, this was the true definition of garbage time, but Davis looked good and might be a key player in the season finale against Troy.
4th Down: What’s Next?
There’s no telling what’s going to happen next week when the Cajuns will take on Troy at Cajun Field. A lot of big questions heading into the season finale. This season showed that with the Cajuns the only thing that’s for sure is that nothing is for sure.
