Welcome everyone to another edition of #4Downs!
1st Down: What Happened?
Two weeks ago, the Saints had won their second straight and looked to be turning this season around. Fast forward to now, and the Saints have completely collapsed. The last two weeks, they’ve played some of the worst teams in the league and made their quarterbacks look like gods. When your opponents hasn’t had a big first half like the Redskins had since 1988, there’s a problem.
2nd Down: Weird Decision Making
One thing that made me scratch my head was Brees going for it on fourth down. Not just going for it, but going for it on 4th & 4 from their own 22. It seems that Payton is no longer in control of the team when something like that is done. And when that happens, there’s major trust issues no matter what is said to the media.
3rd Down: O-Line Struggle is Real
The Saints Offensive Line continues to have issues. Last night during the LSU game, I wondered which offensive line was worse. Based off of this week, LSU was worse. But the Saints have struggled all season long and are putting unnecessary pressure on Brees and that’s causing him to be scared everytime he’s under pressure. I really think the only thing this O-Line could block is people on Twitter.
4th Down: Rob Ryan’s Last Stand
If there’s anytime to let Rob Ryan go, it’s now. You’ve got the bye week to figure out the contingency plan. Everyone knows Dennis Allen would be the interim coordinator, so why not just go ahead with it? You’ve nothing to lose at this point in the season being 4-6. Rob Ryan has gotten progressively worse since his first year with the Saints. The numbers don’t lie and it all adds up to Rob Ryan being a bad coordinator with this team, and it’s time to try something new. Dennis Allen may not be the long-term answer, but Ryan sure as hell isn’t.
