#TriplePlay: LSU vs Mizzou

Posted by clintdomingue on April 18, 2016 in Latest News

Welcome everyone to another edition of #TriplePlay!

Turn One: Right Place, Right Time

The LSU Tigers are starting to click at the right time. Last weekend, the bats really came alive against Vandy and it seems like the bats are alive and kicking. LSU this weekend against Mizzou combined for 40 hits and 31 runs. And Sunday was like looking at the Tigers at the beginning of the season, demolishing their opponents after a pair of two fairly competitive games.

Turn Two: Pitching Needs to Turn Around

LSU has been a big time benefactor of having their offense click lately. This has helped a pitching staff that has been less than stellar as of late. The weekend starters accounted for almost all of the runs from Mizzou this past weekend. Can LSU completely rely on an offensive surge as the season keeps moving forward? To me, you can’t. You need to be able to have solid pitching to help counterbalance a less than stellar offensive effort. Alex Lange has improved the last two games, but needs to return to form if the Tigers want to keep the train on the rails.

Turn Three: Another Big Series Next Weekend

Every SEC series matters, but Mississippi State is a tough series for the Tigers. The Bulldogs are currently ranked sixth according to D1Baseball and has interesting setup in terms of pitching. And the offensive side of the ball has been good in conference play. Expect to see a competitive series between two top ten teams.
