LSU Takes Down Ole Miss to Even Series

Posted by clintdomingue on April 29, 2016 in Featured

The LSU Tigers were able to take down the Ole Miss Rebels (32-12, 11-9 SEC) on Friday night behind a solid performance from Alex Lange to even up the series at one game apiece.

Jordan Romero got the Tigers on the board in the top of the first with a sac fly to left field that allowed Antoine Duplantis to reach home safely. But much like Thursday night’s matchup, the Rebels responded quickly. J.B. Woodman gave Ole Miss the lead in the bottom of the first with a two run shot to right field.

LSU was able to respond again in the top of the second when Chris Reid grounded out to shortstop that allowed Bryce Jordan to come across and it tied the game up. Romero got the Tigers the lead back in the top of the third with a two run shot of his own that landed over the left field wall.

Will Golsan cut away at the Tigers lead in the bottom of the fourth with a single up the middle that allowed Woodman to come across. But that was all the Rebels could do as LSU put the nail in the coffin with a pair of runs scored thanks to an error by the pitcher and groundout by Duplantis.

Lange improved to 5-3 on the year with a complete game effort, allowing two runs off of three hits, walked one, and fanned seven batters on the night.

The Tigers (28-15, 11-9 SEC) will try to win the series in the rubber match on Saturday with first pitch bright and early at 11 am.
