LSU Completes Sweep of Arkansas In Decisive Fashion

Posted by clintdomingue on May 8, 2016 in Latest News

The LSU Tigers were able to take care of business on Sunday afternoon with a 7-1 win over Arkansas (26-22, 7-17 SEC) to complete the sweep.

The Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the second with a two run single up the middle from Brennan Breaux  to take the early lead.

LSU exploded in the bottom of the fifth with four runs highlighted by a three run shot to left field by Jordan Romero.

Jake Fraley helped put what would be the nail in the coffin with a single up the middle that would score Greg Deichmann.

Arkansas was able to avoid being shutout in the top of the ninth when Cullen Gassaway hit a single up the middle that would send Austin Catron home safely for the Razorbacks sole run.

Caleb Gilbert improved to 4-2 on the year throwing five shutout innings. Gilbert allowed only five hits, walked one, and struck out two on the afternoon.

The Tigers (31-16, 14-10 SEC) will head up to South Bend to take on Paul Mainieri’s former team in Notre Dame in a two-game series starting on Tuesday with first pitch set for 5 pm.
