Saints Dominate Through Air to Take Down Rams

The New Orleans Saints looked dominant on Sunday afternoon against a typically strong defense in the Los Angeles Rams 49-21.

The Rams got on the board first with a quick march down the field that ended with a 24-yard pass from rookie QB Jared Goff to Tavon Austin.

Late in the first quarter, the Saints tied things up with a short pass from Drew Brees to Brandon Coleman. Goff struck again early on in the second quarter after a sack and strip by the defense with a short pass of his own to Kenny Britt to make it 14-7.

The Saints tied things up again on the following drive with a long drive down the field that ended with Mark Ingram running it in for the score on a 4th and 1 from the Los Angeles 10.

Sheldon Rankins got some revenge for the earlier sack and strip with one of his own that was recovered by Paul Kruger. The Saints got to the one yard line and on fourth and goal, Brees got it done on the ground to take the lead for the first time.

The lead was extended late in the second quarter with a short throw to Michael Thomas. Goff would cut the lead to 28-21 in the final minutes of the half with a pass to Kendricks.

The Saints would extend their lead early in the second half with Mark Ingram leading the way with a 61-yard run to the Rams 13 and three plays later Ingram would catch a short pass and take it to the house to make it 35-21.

Brees would get another touchdown late in the third quarter to put the game away, which was followed by a flea flicker from Willie Snead to Tim Hightower which would be the dagger on the Rams hopes of a comeback.

The Saints (5-6) will stay in the Superdome next Sunday to take on the Detroit Lions (7-4) with kickoff set for noon.
