LSU Bounces Back With Convincing Win Over Houston

Posted by clintdomingue on November 29, 2016 in Latest News

LSU Men’s Basketball had a tough go of things last week in the Battle for Atlantis, highlighted by a poor showing against Wichita State. However, when the Tigers returned to the PMAC on Tuesday night to take on undefeated Houston they woke up in a big way winning 84-65.

The game started with the Tigers getting out in front early before the Cougars responded and got the lead in the opening five minutes. Both teams would exchange the leads back and forth throughout the first half until Antonio Blakeney would give them the lead at the half with a layup.

The Tigers would come out the gates strong with a 16-6 run in the opening six minutes that gave them a huge gap that would continue to expand as the second half continued. It wouldn’t get easier for the Cougars as for the rest of the second half, they wouldn’t be able to get it within double digits.

The Tigers (5-2) will have the next week off for finals week and return to the court on December 13th to take on North Carolina Central (4-2) with tipoff set for 8 pm.

By the Numbers:

11: The number of assists that Skylar Mays had. The true freshman out of  University High racked up the most amount of assists by an LSU Tiger since 2002.

23: Amount of points that Antonio Blakeney scored in the win. The sophomore would also rack up eight boards, and four assists.

28: Number of rebounds by the Houston Cougars on Tuesday night. The more telling number is that they had only nine boards in the second half.
