#3OT: LSU vs Texas Tech

Posted by clintdomingue on January 28, 2017 in Latest News

3ot

Welcome everyone to the latest edition of #3OT where I break down what went right and what went wrong for the LSU Tigers! In today’s edition, I break down their loss to Texas Tech.

1st OT: Lack of Defense From Three-Point Range In First Half

The LSU Tigers don’t exactly have an incredible defense, but when it comes to what happened on Saturday afternoon it reached a new low in the first half. They wound allowing 10 of the Red Raiders 15 shots from beyond to go in and it was a large reason why the Tigers were down by a dozen at the break. Thankfully, they were able to slow them down from three-point range in the second half.

2nd OT: Slight Improvement from Wednesday

After a historic loss to Florida on Wednesday night, it seems that you can only go up from here. That’s what happened and could be seen by some as a moral victory because they only lost by 13. However, losing seven straight isn’t going to make that bitter pill any easier to swallow that this team is underperforming. The defensive effort was somewhat better, but it still needs to be a point of emphasis.

3rd OT: Can’t Be Blakeney and Everyone Else

The Tigers need to have someone else step up besides Antonio Blakeney. When you look at the box score, only three players were in double digits and four had less than five points on the night. It makes no sense that there’s a lack of depth in this team with guys like Skylar Mays and Jaylyn Patterson. They’re usually a big part of their offense be it scoring or in terms of being a facilitator, but that just was not the case on Saturday and unless someone steps up to become that second guy, another win will be extremely hard to find.
