#3OT: LSU Tigers vs South Carolina

Posted by clintdomingue on February 2, 2017 in Latest News

3ot

Welcome everyone to the latest edition of #3OT where I break down what went right and what went wrong for the LSU Tigers. In this edition, we break down their loss to South Carolina.

1st OT: Turnover Machine

The turnovers just kept going over to South Carolina on Wednesday night. The Tigers committed a season-record 22 turnovers and wound up adding 33 points to the final score. It was an overall disaster that showed how poor this team can really perform.

2nd OT: Jones Finally Shows Emotion

It’s not very often I say anything positive about Johnny Jones, but when he shows any sign of emotion it has to be talked about. Early in the second half LSU was teed up and wound up giving the Gamecocks two more points to get them up by 19 points. It was probably the first time all season long that Johnny Jones actually showed some emotion. If that head coach showed up more often, perhaps they would actually win against a conference opponent.

3rd OT: Poor Shooting

Poor shooting continues to plague LSU and this was actually a game where they could have won even with how bad they shot. The Gamecocks wound up having an okay night shooting 49 percent from the field and the Tigers ended up shooting 40 percent. The biggest deciding factor outside of the aforementioned turnover is the fact that South Carolina made 21 of their 31 free throws. Those personal fouls they had wound up biting them because if they had less personal fouls, there was a slight chance they could have overcome their poor ball handling and came away with a win.
