LSU’s Struggles Continue In Loss to Arkansas

The last time the LSU Tigers (9-15, 1-11 SEC) headed into the locker room with a lead was against Alabama back in January. That game ended with Alabama coming away with the win behind a strong second half. That’s almost exactly what Saturday’s loss to Arkansas (18-7, 7-5 SEC) looked like.

After Arkansas briefly held the lead to start things off, the Tigers got out to a six point lead with 15:44 remaining in the first half. The Razorbacks would fight back, but LSU would pull out in front late in the first half and head into the locker room with all of the momentum and a 19 point lead.

That lead wouldn’t last long though as Arkansas woke up in a big way with a 21-4 to start the second half and that would give them the lead with 11:15 left in regulation. LSU generally just hung around the rest of the way, getting the deficit down to eight points, but it was another case of too little too late for the Tigers.

LSU will get back on the road to take on the Ole Miss Rebels (15-10, 6-6 SEC) with tipoff set for 8 pm.

By the Numbers:

31: Number of points off the bench for Arkansas. The bench for the Razorbacks really helped them out as the game progressed.

38: LSU’s field goal percentage. Sometimes you can be bailed out by a team getting ice cold, but Arkansas was able to get hot and make LSU look silly.

74: Arkansas’ free throw percentage. The Razorbacks only shot six more free throws and was able to control things from the charity stripe to come away with the win.
