The LSU Tigers (9-18, 1-14 SEC) made the wrong kind of history on Tuesday night with their 14th straight SEC loss, tying the most consecutive SEC losses for the program.
This time around, they lost to Auburn (17-11, 6-9 SEC) in decisive fashion by the score of 98-75. The LSU Tigers were able to start out strong, getting out to a two point lead. However, Auburn would get back out in front, quickly taking an 18-11 lead with 13:43 left in the first half.
It would look like LSU would fight back late in the first half tying the game up several times before Auburn finished strong and headed into the locker room with a 45-42 lead.
It was all Auburn to start the second half as they were able to extend their lead to double digits with 15:39 remaining in regulation. It continued to be all Auburn throughout the rest of the game and were able to get out to a 20 point lead in quick fashion.
LSU will return to action on Saturday when they take on the Georgia Bulldogs (15-12, 6-8 SEC) with tipoff set for 5 pm.
By the Numbers:
29: Number of points Antonio Blakeney put up in the loss. This is the fifth straight game for the sophomore where he put up more than 20 points.
22: Number of points off of of turnovers for Auburn. It seems like a broken record for this team to have one too many turnovers and the other team just took advantage of it.
90: The bright spot for LSU on Tuesday night has to be the free-throw shooting as they put up 90 percent from behind the charity stripe.
