Last Friday, Alex Lange was pulled after a less than stellar performance against TCU. That didn’t affect the junior pitcher at all as he put together a gem of a game to help the LSU Tigers (10-1) over Wichita State (8-4).
Antoine Duplantis got things started for the Tigers with an RBI double down the right field line to score Kramer Robertson to make it 1-0 in the bottom of the first. His night wasn’t done though as he got another score across with an RBI single to left field in the bottom of the third.
Later in the inning, Greg Deichmann would extend the Tigers lead with an RBI single of his own. If you thought Deichmann was done, you were completely wrong.
The senior would hit a no-doubter over the wall near right center field to score three more runs and put the Shockers away.
Alex Lange improved to 3-1 on the year with eight shutout innings. He allowed only two hits and struck out nine of the 25 batters he faced.
The Tigers will have little time to recover as they will take on Wichita State earlier than what was originally scheduled. The game was announced that it will move up to 1 pm due to potential inclement weather coming through the Baton Rouge area tomorrow night.
