LSU Tigers Holds Off Georgia Bulldogs

The mustache of Jared Poche had taken a life of its own during the first weeks of the regular season. When it came to the senior pitcher, whenever he took the mound odds were that the opposing team wouldn’t score on that particular evening.

A few weeks ago, head coach Paul Mainieri said that as long as he didn’t allow a run, he could grow the mustache

However, that streak came to an end on Saturday night when LSU (15-5) took on the Georgia Bulldogs (8-12, 0-2 SEC). In the top of the fourth, Keegan McGovern snapped the streak with a solo to right center field to tie things up.

This would snap a 32 inning streak for Poche, but wouldn’t slow down the Tigers as Antoine Duplantis sent one flying to left field to give them the lead right back.

That lead would not be given back after Duplantis continued his hot streak with a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth. Kramer Robertson would be walked with the bases loaded in the eighth and that would be the deciding factor as LSU would win 5-1

Poche improved to 5-0 allowing the lone run off seven hits, walking two, and striking out five batters in seven innings of work.

The Tigers will look for the series sweep on Sunday with first pitch set for 2 pm.
