After five innings, South Carolina (27-19, 11-13 SEC) looked to be firmly in control with a 5-3 lead. However, the LSU Tigers (32-16, 15-9 SEC) fought back and were able to take the rubber match in extra innings.

LSU got tied things up in the bottom of the eighth when Zach Watson hit an RBI single to send Josh Smith home safely. However, LT Tolbert got the Gamecocks back out in front in the ninth with a sac fly out to centerfield to get Jacob Olson to home plate.

LSU tied things up again in the bottom of the ninth with Greg Deichmann hitting an RBI single to left centerfield to force extra innings.

South Carolina was stopped short of taking the lead in the 10th with an incredible throw from Antoine Duplantis to Robertson to Papierski. Duplanits followed that up with a walkoff single to left field to take the rubber match 7-6.

Zach Hess improved to 5-1 with one and a third innings of relief work. The freshman allowed only one hit and walked two on the afternoon.

LSU will stay inside the friendly confines of Alex Box Stadium on Tuesday when they take on South Alabama (30-18) with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 pm.
