The game of baseball is all about momentum and the series between LSU (35-17, 18-9 SEC) and Auburn (35-17, 14-13 SEC) shows what a bad series can do to a team. Auburn was swept last weekend by in-state rival Alabama who had only won two SEC games prior.
LSU was able to feast on Auburn in the series finale thanks to one of the most complete games that they had played all season with a 9-1 win.
Beau Jordan got LSU on the board in the second with an RBI single. They would get two more runs across later in the inning to give them the early edge.
Michael Papierski increased LSU’s lead in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run blast to right field.
Cole Freeman put what would be the final nail with a two-run single to right field in the bottom of the sixth.
Eric Walker improved to 6-1 on the season allowing one run off one hit, walked three and struck out three in eight innings of work.
LSU will wrap up the homestand on Tuesday when they take on Northwestern State (19-29) with first pitch set for 6:30 pm.
