The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (35-20-1, 19-10-1 Sun Belt) have gotten their bats hot all throughout their series against UL Monroe (12-43, 6-24 Sun Belt). It continued on Saturday, but the big story was Hogan Harris’ performance to help the Cajuns complete the sweep by the score of 6-3.
Handsome Monica started the third inning off with a bang, sending one over the left field wall to take the early lead. Later in the inning, Brenn Conrad scored off of a wild pitch with the bases loaded.
The Cajuns continued to put crooked numbers up in the fourth when Zach LaFleur hit an RBI double out to right centerfield, making it 3-0. Monica made it 4-0 later in the inning after Brenn Conrad grounded out to Chase Beal.
Harris allowed his lone hit of the game with two outs when Chad Bell hit an RBI single through the right side to make it 5-1. The Cajuns secured the series sweep in the eighth when LaFleur stole home.
Harris improved to 5-2 allowing one run off one hit, walked one, and struck out 10 over six and two-thirds of an inning of work. Jevin Huval recorded his first save of the season allowing two hits and striking out two in the ninth.
The Cajuns will now be the number four seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and have tournament host Georgia Southern waiting for them on Wednesday. First pitch is slated for 7:30 pm.
