When you look at the start of fall camp for any team, it’s always great to hear positive things come out of it. It’s even more pleasing to hear that it was one of the best that he’s ever had.
“Day one is always interesting and you always seem to have an okay day one and there’s some day ones that look like day ones.” Louisiana Ragin Cajuns head coach Mark Hudspeth said on Sunday after the first practice, “I can say this honestly; this didn’t look like a day one. I thought the energy level was the best we’ve ever had.”
While there were some growing pains for the Cajuns, it’s to be expected when you haven’t lined up in formations for a few months. Hudspeth did have some encouraging words for his team because of how their first day went saying “If the enthusiasm and the energy stays at the level it was at today, we will correct the mistakes.”
Natural Progression
For the first time since the 2014 season, there is an apparent leader in the clubhouse when it comes to the position of starting quarterback. Jordan Davis was named the starter immediately after the spring game and it looks like he’s been able to keep that momentum going.
“I think it was just a natural progression. He’s picked up right where he left off. This is the most self-confidence he’s ever had and he’s always had the skills” Hudspeth said of the junior quarterback, “He really looks like he feels like he is in control. He’ll only get better with playing time and I just think he got off to a good start today.”
