New Orleans Saints Fall to Minnesota Vikings in Final Seconds

Posted by clintdomingue on January 14, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

Saints Vikings Preview

There have been a lot of tough losses for the New Orleans Saints. Sunday’s loss might have hurt more than the others with the way it happened on Sunday with the Saints overcoming a 17-0 deficit at the break and begin to rally late, but came up short against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Saints finally got one the board late in the third quarter with Drew Brees connecting with Michael Thomas on a 14-yard pass to cap off a 12 play drive that took 6:40 off the clock.

It didn’t take long for the Saints to score again after a big interception by Marcus Williams. That gave the Saints a short field and made the most of it with another touchdown pass in the endzone to Thomas. The Vikings made it a six-point ballgame on the next drive with a 49-yard field goal courtesy of Kai Forbath.

The Saints needed a big play after going three and out and got just what they needed with a blocked punt. They marched down the field and ended it with a 14-yard pass in the endzone to Alvin Kamara to make it 21-20.

Forbath gave the Vikings the lead right back when he nailed a 53-yarder to make it 23-21 with 1:34 left in regulation. However, Wil Lutz responded with a field goal of his own with a 43-yard field goal with 29 seconds left to make it 24-23.

With 10 seconds left and the Vikings at their own 39-yard line on third and ten ripped the Saints fans hearts out with a completion to Stefon Diggs that he took to the house and gave them a 29-24 victory and a trip to the NFC Championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
