Louisiana Finishes Mardi Gras Classic Undefeated

Posted by clintdomingue on February 11, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

After weather shuffled around the schedule on Saturday, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (5-0) wrapped up the weekend with a 9-0 victory over Iowa (1-3) to stay undefeated in the Mardi Gras Classic.

The Cajuns came out of the gates strong with a three-run first inning highlighted by a two-run triple from Beth Ashley. Alissa Dalton made it 4-0 in the top of the third with a solo shot out to right center field.

The former Oklahoma Sooner helped pour it on in the fourth inning with a two-run single. Ashley put the game out of reach later in the inning with a two-run single out to center field.

Kylee Jo Trahan improved to 3-0, allowing only one hit, walked two, and struck out four in five shutout innings of work.

The Cajuns will return to action when they take on Oregon State (4-1) inside Lamson Park with first pitch set for 6 pm.
